    Under the patronage of the Industry Minister,SEBC Annouces the Preliminary Results of Developing the Public Industrial Sector Project - 3/5/2012

Under the patronage of Mr. Adnan Slakhu, Minister of Industry,  and as part of the role played by the Syrian Enterprise and Business Center (SEBC) in assisting the Syrian economy by supporting and strengthening the capacity and competitiveness of Syrian companies in accordance with government plans, a workshop of “The Development and liberalization of the industrial public sector project" was held at in Damascus on Thursday 3ed May 2012.
 
The workshop aimed to announce the results of the first phase of reforming and developing the industrial sector through presenting the results of the diagnostic phase and the proposals for the implementation phase.

“The next phase of this project is also important one, it requires high commitment from all managements to implement the development suggestions”, the Minister of Industry said in his opening speech during the workshop. Mr. Slakhu stressed the importance of working as a one team to maintain the public sector ,provide the objective conditions and knowledge to sustain and maintain its competitiveness.

The first diagnostic phase had included / 11 / company selected by the Ministry of Industry on the basis of its vision of developing and manufacturing the industry sector. These companies were distributed among the four provinces; Damascus, Aleppo, Lattakia and Dier Alzor.

The Syrian Enterprise and Business Center is preparing this study according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the ministry; SEBC Business Development Department manages the study team who searches and evaluates the selected companies and develops plans for the improving and reform.

“The expert team , included experts /11/ in management, marketing, quality, financial and support services ; has implemented about 150 days of work at the companies headquarters”   Hisham Khayat SEBC consultant said.

According to Khayat, SEBC in the eyes of the Syrian Government is regarded as the technical support arm to the government on demand driven basis.

The Development and liberalization of the industrial public sector Project has  an important role in building the economy , enrich the State Treasury, as well as supporting the  infrastructure which is necessary for developing the private sector, and focus on the establishment of new investments in the sectors of textile, food, chemical and engineering.
