COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Al Samah is a privately owned company founded in 1970. It specialises in the production of stockings and pantyhose for women. The company employs 130 people with a production capacity of 600,000 dozen per year and an annual turnover of US$ 930,000.

The factory produces over 30 types:

• Stockings
• Pantyhose

All products are made from Polyamid yarns and lycra. The company is planning to introduce different types of Lycra double fine pantyhose in the near future.

Sales

The company produces under its own trademark “Al Samah” and sells 80% of its products on the local market through distribution centres. The remainder is exported to countries such as Germany, Russia and the Gulf area.

Manufacturing facilities :

The factory is equipped with up-to-date machinery used in most stages of the production process. The company is planning to move to a new location in July 1998 to provide a better working environment.

Quality Control System:

Al Samah produces high quality products that meet European standards. It has its own internal quality control system, and it is in the process of obtaining ISO9000 Certification.

BUSINESS OBJECTIVES:

The company seeks to promote its products and get into the European market through:

• Co-operation in the form of sub-contracting
• Agents or distributors of their products in the EU
• Technical know-how transfer agreements in order to assist in improving the production process.
