COMPANY OVERVIEW:

O.U.M.C. is one of the companies under the umbrella of the General Organisation of Textile Industries (GOTI), which is a public sector established. It commenced its operations in 1966. The company, which employs 1,200 people, produces all kinds of 100% cotton underwear. It has a production capacity of 1,150,000 dozen pieces a year and an annual turnover of US$ 10,769,230.

Product range:

The company produces 100% cotton underwear (for men, women and children) of all kinds of fabrics,: interlock, rib 1/1, 2/2 and single jersey.

Sales

The largest percentage of the company’s products is produced according to the Syrian standard, and the remainder according to special customer requirements.

O.U.M.C. sells 60% of its products on the local market and exports the remaining 40% to countries such as France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus.

Manufacturing facilities :

The factory is equipped with modern machines and the management keeps abreast of new developments in technology.

Quality Control System:

O.U.M.C applies a quality control system at all production phases, and it is in the process of obtaining ISO Certification.

The company seeks to promote its products and penetrate the European markets through:

• Agents or distributors of their products in the EU
• Co-operation in the form of sub-contracting
• Production under licence.
• Technical know-how transfer agreements in order to assist them in improving the production process.
